Dessau Collective Branding #AdobeHiddenTreasures

#AdobeHiddenTreasures #contest | by @dongnitriescrt

This is my (second) entry to the Adobe Hidden Treasures Design Challenge No. 5: Brand Identity Project on Behance.

I took inspiration from my Design Challenge No. 2: Poster submission. My goal then was to be able to feature the different influences linked to Bauhaus while still making the typography the hero of the artwork. My first ever design contest piece illustrates how Piet Mondrian’s art and theory influenced the Bauhaus movement and how this (simplistic geometry) lives on in modern architecture and design.

In this project, you may check out the logo, poster, business cards, and homepage that altogether build the brand identity of the Dessau Collective: A Mondrian-Bauhaus Art Group.

Let me know what you think by leaving a comment below!
PRIMARY LOGO. The primary logo features the full logotype -- isometric window panes accompanied by the text, 'Dessau Collective: A Mondrian-Bauhaus Dessau Art Group'.
SECONDARY LOGO. The secondary logo features a more simplistic version of the Dessau Collective emblem. The flat, 2D logo is accompanied by the same text, 'Dessau Collective: A Mondrian-Bauhaus Dessau Art Group'.
POSTER. The poster displays the isometric infrastructure derived from the glyphs -- b and h -- of the Joschmi font (from the recovered typography project of Adobe). These are stylized with Mondrian patterns as windows in red, blue, yellow, white, and black. To the right is a sample infographics poster of what the Dessau Collective is all about.
BUSINESS CARDS. The business cards come in two versions. (i) The first is the more minimalist version showing relevant contact details in fonts Alfarn and Reross Rectangular. This version features an isometric illustration derived from the letter 'd', which stands for Dessau in the middle; and the alternate logo on the upper left. (ii) The second version includes the Mondrian pattern on the back side and the relevant contact details with the primary logo on the front.
HOMEPAGE. The homepage is divided into different sections, mirroring Mondrian patterns. This is inspired by Mondrian-styled web designs on Dribbble. The right half shows (i) featured stories linked to the Bauhaus movement, (ii) portal to learn more about the Dessau Collective, and (iii) featured fonts from the Bauhaus foundation of the week. The left half displays the primary logo and quick links to developing stories and articles along with social media links. (Credits to bauhaus-dessau.de for the photos used on the left half)
See and read on the snippets from my Design Challenge No. 2: Poster submission and entry for the story behind the creative process involved in the conceptualization of the fictional art group brand identity.
BACKGROUND. Influences: Piet Mondrian (Mondrianism), De Stilj art movement and group, neo-plasticism. Overview of the brand identity: color palette, isometric projection frames, shadows and depth.
JOSCHMI AND ITS PERFECTLY GEOMETRIC GLYPHS. To this day, influences from the Bauhaus movement live on in modern design and architecture. These architectural shapes and forms are also mirrored in the recovered typography, Joschmi.
MONDRIANISM AND THE BAUHAUS. This pays homage to the influences linked to the Bauhaus movement including the likes of Piet Mondrian.
